This 2 day workshop provides school managers and educators with the knowledge to recognize the signs of gender-based violence, understand the causes and effects and be able to prevent and respond to circumstances of gender-based violence in their schools. Much of this violence is perpetrated against women and girls. In South African schools, 39% of girls say they have experienced some type of sexual violence. Educators experience this violence on a daily basis. It is therefore essential that school educators are equipped with the knowledge to understand the causes of violence and gender-based violence, understand the strategies for organizing and preventing violence in their school and be equipped with the resources to support learners and victims of violence.
Any school manager and educator working in a primary or secondary school. This course is ideal for those educators that have experienced violence or gender-based violence in their schools and would like to obtain skills to better manage it in the future.
