Statistics show that more than 7.5% of the South African population is living with a permanent disability.
Many of the people living with these disabilities have been undercompensated by the relevant schemes and funds since the medical professionals dealing with their assessments do not have the training on how to complete these assessments and claims. This could result in signi?cant ?nancial and reputational costs to the patient and medical professionals.
Medical Doctors, Medical and Hospital Case Managers, Occupational and Physical Therapists, Disability Evaluators and Nurses involved in the assessment of medical impairment for the Road Accident Fund, Workman’s Compensation, Rand Mutual Assurance and Insurance Companies paying disabilities based on permanent medical impairment.

The following topics are covered under this programme:
Participants are assessed on the self-study component of the course through means of a multiple-choice questionnaire.
Accredited according to the HPCSA’s CPD Guidelines for Health Care Professionals for 30 CEU’s on Level 2.
To qualify for the certi?cate of completion for this short course, participants should fully attend the workshop and achieve 70% on the assessment.
All medical practitioners who receive the certi?cate of completion for the successful completion of the programme may decide to apply for an AMA examination in order to get a Competency Certi?cate as an Independent Medical Impairment Evaluator.
